True

There's nothing Donald Trump can or will do, good or bad, that will change Hillary Clinton.

Not Once

In May 1980, we lived in Lake Charles.  Late one Thursday night, it started raining, and about 20 inches of rain fell in 12 hours or so.  Much of the town and surrounding area flooded, including many, many houses.  Our house did not flood, but it was very close.

I do not remember, even one moment in time, thinking that a politician needed to come see us and tell us all would be OK.  I don't remember the governor or anyone else saying anything, let alone the president.  We just wanted to get things dried out, and get on with life.  Cars were lined up at shops all over town, with the seats upside down on the tops and hoods of the cars.  The most important thing needed was the garbage trucks to come haul off all the wet carpet, insulation, and sheet rock piled up along the street.

I guess I was too young and stupid to understand the critical nature of a political statement on site.

Land Grab

The feds have been trying to eliminate the family farm and ranch for years, mostly by using the inheritance tax to cause families to have to sell their land to pay half the value in tax.  Now, the initiative is being advanced by claiming an area to have an endangered species of animal or plant, leading to federal seizure of property.  The endangered species act has been used for years to prevent construction and development, but the seizure of private property seems new.  Perhaps explains why the feds have been buying up 9mm and 7.62 NATO.  I didn't know the BLM had a swat team, and couldn't imagine a need, until this.  It just seems like the folks in Washington are sitting around, counting ammo, and researching ways to poke taxpayers in the eye.

Right and Wrong

If you think Republicans are making mistakes, you are right.  If you believe honoring our constitution will help resolve our government-based fiscal and organizational problems, you are right.  If you think spending more money than the economy can support is wrong, you are right.  If you believe political leverage is being used to cause agreements that are not in the best interest of the United States, you are right.  If you believe liberal Democrats are right, you are left.

Wrong, But Right, But Still Wrong

There seem to be now three categories of witness: (1) Speak the truth; (2) Be political; or (3) Lie. (1) and (3) require no explanation. To be political, one may tell a lie if that lie serves to advance a greater truth.

Trouble is that this completely and precisely explains why politics is ruining so many things. A lie is false witness, regardless of its "good" intentions. To accept lying is a precursor to further elimination of trust, class, and propriety.
