If, BIG if, there were to be a proposal for government control of firearms that would actually substantially reduce the risk of mass shootings, AND the initiative wouldn't be exploited as an entry point toward eventual confiscation, I believe many gun owners would be willing to give it a chance. So far, not a single proposal would contribute to a reduction of risk.
